The Student Army Training Corps camp located its tents between University Hall and Mount Sentinel in 1918.
Since 1893, University of Montana students have worked to make Missoula, the United States, and the world safer, healthier, and more just. This section of the exhibit explores the ways Grizzlies have given back to the local Missoula community, contributed to National Service Organizations like Americorps and the Peace Corps, and served the United States in times of war. It considers the University of Montana students and alumni who, at tremendous risk to themselves, fought wildfires as smokejumpers. Together, these stories showcase some of the many ways that, for 130 years, Grizzlies have been a force for good.
