River Campus & Vocational Studies

Education means different things to different people. Not everyone wants to spend four years in lecture halls before entering the real world. Missoula Vocational School has served our community, educating people in trades and preparing them for employment since 1956. In 1994, the University merged with the Vocational School to create Missoula College. By combining these two institutions, both could better serve Montana residents while streamlining administrative services.

Since 1994, Missoula College has continued to develop into a premier education destination in myriad fields, such as cooking, cybersecurity, construction science, and health care, just to name a few. These programs make Montana a better place to live by improving the quality of products and services in the state.

Higher Education is more than just reading, writing, and math. That is why the University of Montana acquired the Missoula Vocational Center in 1994, renaming it Missoula College.
Busy bees are a vital part of our ecosystem. A team of UM honey bee researchers developed an online beekeeping certificate program available to students across the globe. Beginning and experienced beekeepers learn to maintain healthy hives through this unique and award-winning course.
Missoula College offers more than 40 programs that educate people on various topics. From cooking to construction, UM prepares Montanans for anything life throws their way.
Completed in 2017, the new River Campus building serves as a functional and beautiful place to learn. Standing right on the bank of the Clark Fork River, this building will continue to serve as a place for learning well into the future.
