Linda McCarthy

From Freemont, Nebraska, McCarthy moved to Kalispell, Montana at a young age, then moved to Dupuyer, Montana. McCarthy worked as a stat keeper for basketball games in high school, and attended the University of Montana. As a student, she worked as the Assistant Sports Information director, and she financially Supported herself through college. McCarthy minored in Journalism and got her BA in Communication Studies and a Master’s degree in public administration, all from the University of Montana. McCarthy worked in Grizzly Athletics from 1986 to 1999, and worked for Dave Guffy. McCarthy helped establish the Downtown Business Improvement District and helped create the Missoula Downtown Foundation. Linda is responsible for ensuring the organization is accomplishing its work plan across all spectrums, but she works more specifically in strategic planning, board development, communications, public relations, advocacy and implementation of the Downtown Master Plan. Linda served on the Board of Directors of Destination Missoula from 1999-2016 and was president of the board in 2011-12. McCarthy was honored as the UM Montana Alumni of the Year in 2008, and currently serves on the University of Montana Hall of Fame Committee.
