Karyn Ridgeway grew up in Missoula, Montana and was an all-state basketball player at Hellgate High School. Ridgeway made history when she served as one of three plaintiffs in the 1982 Ridgeway v. Montana High School Association–one of the first Title IX athletics cases in the country. Ridgeway attended the University of Montana, and played for Lady Griz Basketball from 1985-1987 under coach Robin Selvig. A woman of many talents, Ridgeway's professional titles include collegiate basketball coach and emergency room doctor, alongside her long-standing and varied musical pursuits.

Karyn Ridgeway was nominated for the GoGriz.com Person of the Year Award in 2020, but deferred the honor citing that others must be more deserving. If you would like to read more about her extended history, career, and why she turned down the award, follow the link to the article below, hosted on the Griz website.
