John Curtis Weida
John Curtis Weida is the current Head Athletic Trainer at the University of Montana and only the third Head Athletic Trainer in the nearly ninety years since its establishment. Originally from Deer Lodge, Montana, Weida started work as an athletic trainer at the University of Montana in 1996 under Dennis “Murph” Murphy
and became Head Athletic Trainer in 2013 after Dennis Murphy retired. Weida was inducted into Griz Hall of Fame in 2019 and served as President of the Montana Athletic Trainer Association (MTATA). Weida was also instrumental in the passing of the Dylan Steigers Act, aimed at protecting youth athletes from injuries stemming from concussions.
